'My God is so big'
I took a risk and shared my doubts with my Bible study

These are the “truths” I learned growing up in the Orthodox Jewish community: “Jesus was a prophet. Mary was raped by a Roman soldier; it was not a virgin birth.”

As an adult, I wanted to be a Christian and experience God’s grace—the same selfless love I saw in my Christian friends. By 1992 I had worked through the obstacles that kept me from becoming a Christian. I no longer feared that I was betraying my parents or grandparents, who survived the Holocaust. After I hit some bumps—sinkholes, really—in my career path, I knew my salvation didn’t rest on my good works.
