White walls, beware
Artist leaves her signature in her church, community

When Leigh Ann Whitley spots a white wall, her first thought is, "Can I paint this?"

In most cases — particularly at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hemet, Calif., the answer is yes. That's because the artist has brightened not only her congregational home but also many schools and offices.

Whitley's painting ministry was hardly planned. Connie Bunge, the wife of Trinity pastor John Bunge, asked her to create a dedication in the youth room to a young member who had died of leukemia.
